Standard AN 4140 Bar (in the Annealed condition) can be plasma or flame cut from plate inventory, then Annealed onsite in our furnace. Precision Grinding will custom cut any thickness and width flat bar to your order. We recommend that all standard 4140 plate & bar receive anneal treatment prior to shipping. Annealing improves Grinding and Machining, while this heat process also prevents cracking.

We maintain Standard inventory AISI 4140 Plate, 96" x 240" in thicknesses from 1/4" - 4" thick, with Availability to 14" thick.
Standard size "pre-hard 4140 bars" are Saw cut, then ground to your custom specifications.
Standard Tolerance requests for Blanchard Grinding include: (+/- .005), (+/- .010), (+ .015, - .000) and (+ .030, -.000)
Standard Tolerances for Surface Grinding include (+/- .001), (+/- .002), (+/- .003). Please, visit Ground & Machined for more information.
Non-standard sizes prehard may be water-jetted, especially if the plate is in the "pre-ground" condition.
Non-Ground, Standard size "4140 bars" may be saw cut to length. Let us know your specific heating requests.
Non-standard size "annealed 4140 bars" are often times flame cut or plasma cut to size, then annealed in our on-site furnace.
